LIEUTENANT/DEPUTY
FIRE MARSHAL
The City
of Waycross is accepting applications for Lieutenant/Deputy Fire
Marshal. This position is responsible for conducting fire safety
education programs, enforcing fire prevention standards, promoting
the effective fire inspection methods and as assigned special
community and departmental projects, and assist with fire
investigations.
Minimum
Requirements: Individuals applying for the position must be
highly motivated, creative, and able to speak in public. High School
diploma or equivalent (GED) accompanied with the completion of
specialized courses in fire prevention and/or Georgia Fire Fighter
Certification; 4 years experience in fire service with a certified
fire department. Must be at least 18 years of age and possess a
valid Georgia driver’s license with a satisfactory motor vehicle
record; no felonies in past 10 years and must submit to a criminal
background check. Must have the ability to meet and maintain the
physical fitness requirements. Satisfactory pre-employment physical,
drug screen, motor vehicle record screen and criminal background
screening.
If not a
Georgia Certified Fire Fighter must obtain certification as a
Firefighter by the State of Georgia within twelve (12) months of
employment and have the ability to meet current requirements set
forth by the National Fire Protection Association and the Georgia
Firefighter Standards and Training Council.
Must be
able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, 20 pounds
frequently, up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Performs such activities as climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling,
crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling,
lifting, grasping, feeling, talking and hearing. Able to work in a
diverse environment and community.
Must
possess excellent interpersonal skills, supervisory skills, computer
skills, organization and time management skills.
Compensation: Grade 16 mid 30k’s Salary based on qualifications and
experience along with an exceptional benefits package.

POLICE OFFICER
The City of Waycross is accepting applications
for Police Officers.
Responsibilities Include, but are not
limited to: the enforcement of federal, state, and local laws
and the protection of life and property. This position also patrols
an assigned zone to detect and deter criminal activity and traffic
violations and responds to calls. Conducts preliminary
investigations into traffic accidents and other incidents, including
interviewing victims, complainants, and witnesses; gathering
information and evidence and securing crime scenes.
Required Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma or GED, 18 years
of age, a valid Georgia driver’s license with good driving record,
good communication skills (oral and written) and a desire to work
with the public. Must possess excellent interpersonal skills,
computer skills, organization and time management skills.
Applicants will be required to submit to the

records and education; written examination, physical fitness
examination; criminal history investigation and other required
applicant procedures. Satisfactory pre-employment physical, drug
screen, motor vehicle record screen and criminal background
screening.
Salary: $11.93 per hour with an exceptional
