Our Mission

The primary purpose of the Waycross Police Department is to maintain social order within prescribed ethical and constitutional limits, while providing professional law enforcement services utilizing community oriented strategies. The Waycross Police Department actively solicits and encourages the cooperation of all citizens to reduce and limit the opportunities for crime and to facilitate the maximum use of resources.

Accreditation

The Waycross Police Department began a quest to become nationally recognized in 1988. We set records by many standards in becoming ready for our on-site trials in 1990. We received our National Accreditation status in July of 1990 to become the 158th police department in the U.S. and the 10th in Georgia to achieve this sought-after status. We are proud of this achievement, as it is proof on paper that we strive to be the best. Not proof by us, but by a commission of judges, politicians, police chiefs, and other prominent peers from around the country.
