Lines from six directions meet at the city. Its name signifies its strategic position where "Ways Cross". In colonial days, it was the hub of stagecoach roads and pioneer trails. Later the old Plant System and the Brunswick and Western Railroad lines crossed here, giving birth to a modern railroad network.

J une 1st 2010 - Bandalong Litter Trap

The City of Waycross, Georgia has demonstrated a remarkable commitment to the environment to become the first city in the state, and second in the nation, to install a Bandalong Litter Trap to cease the flow of floating trash to the Satilla River.  The Bandalong Litter Trap utilizes collection baskets so that floating litter and debris captured by the device is retained in the baskets which can easily be removed and emptied by standard public works equipment. Georgia-based Storm Water Systems, North America’s exclusive licensee and manufacturer of the Bandalong Litter Trap, installed the floating litter collecting device on the main city canal leading to the Satilla River in April.  Video Link (Provided by Waycross Local and Callaway Communications)
